Eddisons expands with business sales agent acquisition

Property consultant Eddisons has broadened its services to clients with the acquisition of long-established national business sales agent Ernest Wilson, based in Leeds.

Founded in 1956, Ernest Wilson buys and sells businesses on behalf of clients and in the last financial year sold 370 businesses across the UK, ranging from fish and chip shops and convenience stores to care homes, restaurants and hotels.

Operating across seven UK offices, the business has been owned for the past 50 years by Robert Williamson and is now managed by his son Paul. The acquisition will see all 24 Ernest Wilson employees integrated into the Eddisons group.

The deal is Eddisons’ third acquisition of this year. In February the Leeds-based firm acquired Manchester specialist consultant Croft Transport Planning and Design, which provides highways, transport and traffic advice to the public and private sector, followed by the acquisition, in April, of Eastern England chartered surveyor Barker Storey Matthews, a deal which saw Eddisons’ national office network expand to 20.

Anthony Spencer, managing partner at Eddisons, said: “The acquisition of Ernest Wilson, which is one of the UK’s leading business sales agents, strengthens our offering to clients and puts us in a unique position to support commercial clients in sales of businesses, property and assets on a national basis. I am delighted to welcome the Ernest Wilson team to Eddisons.”

Ernest Wilson managing director Paul Williamson said: “Through our team of talented people, who place our clients’ interests at the forefront of everything we do, Ernest Wilson has developed a market leading reputation for selling a wide range of businesses.

“We are excited to be joining the Eddisons team and we look forward to developing the business as part of the broader Eddisons group”

Eddisons is a multi-disciplinary firm of chartered surveyors. Established in 1844, it operates across the UK and has its head office in Leeds.
