New laboratories on site for Newcastle's Quorum Business Park with latest occupier
HistoCyte Laboratories has expanded operations and moved its Newcastle base to the Neon building at Quorum Business Park.
The group has created four laboratories, making this the first laboratories created at Quorum.
Having outgrown the incubator space at the Herschel Annex on the Newcastle University campus - which had been its home for the past five years - HistoCyte has grown into a new larger space at Quorum.
Histocyte, which develops quality control materials for use in tissue-based diagnostics needed to be in a building that could accommodate its growth aspirations.
Director Colin Tristram said: ’We looked at a few options, but settled on Quorum due to the good transportation links and flexibility of the space.
“The team at Broadoak [asset managers at Quorum] helped us with the technical specification in converting the office space into laboratories.”
The Neon building creates a new workplace modal across 19 units of varying sizes from six desks upwards. This allows businesses of all sizes to mix and collaborate with shared meeting rooms and spaces.
The new smaller office suites offer startups the chance to establish and grow. All the suites are of a high-quality spec and with room to expand into larger space supported by onsite amenities.
