Menzies’ charity quiz night returns for twentieth year
Accountancy firm Menzies LLP has hosted its 20th annual quiz night, raising £1,825 to support people living with mental illness in Surrey.
Held at Pine Ridge Golf Club, Camberley, the event was held in support of local charity Oakleaf, which provides vocational training to people experiencing mental health issues; helping them to gain up-to-date qualifications and experience, whilst increasing their confidence levels.
In addition to the quiz, the event included a ‘Play-Doh’-themed art competition, as well as a raffle and cash bar, with Menzies’ staff members volunteering as bar staff. Out of 35 teams taking part from the local business community, Herrington Carmichael Solicitors were crowned this year’s quiz champions, with £1,825 raised in support of Oakleaf’s important work.
Eli Beckett, fundraising and partnership manager at Oakleaf, said: “On behalf of all the staff and clients at Oakleaf, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Menzies for choosing to support our charity at this year’s quiz night. It was a fantastic evening and the perfect platform to discuss our work, whilst raising important mental health awareness. The funds will enable us to help hundreds of adults to manage their mental ill-health in our community, and assist them on their journey back into employment.”
John Biffen, client relationship partner at accountancy firm, Menzies LLP, commented: “Our annual charity quiz night is one of the most popular social events in the firm’s calendar, and this year’s event was the one best yet. A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped us to raise a record sum for Oakleaf’s valuable work and the community benefits it brings.”
