Opening date revealed for new Leeds Kirkgate Market gastropub
Leeds Kirkgate Market is to welcome the first ever pub into its historic interior with The Owl set to open this Friday (November 1).
HOME’s stars Liz Cottam and Mark Owens have worked together to create the new concept.
The Owl, a gastropub, is one of the first in Leeds to go cashless, with only card payment allowed, to streamline the payment process.
Leeds Kirkgate Market is not usually open after dark, therefore The Owl had to secure a licence to allow its future guests entry.
Liz, The Owl’s founder, added: “We are so excited… The Owl will be a haven of peace from the busy streets and the hustle of Kirkgate Market.
“I’ve always been drawn to owning a pub in the Market, and I really want this place, and the Market, to thrive once again.
“I have already made some great friends with traders like Malcolm Michaels, Owt, Tarbett’s and many others, and I hope more businesses will follow us into this great space.”
