Arrow Self Drive raises over £3000 in charity boat race
Yorkshire’s largest independent vehicle-hire firm has raised £3013 for local charity Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
As part of the charity’s first Dragon Boat Race, Arrow Self Drive organised two teams of eleven employees from its Huddersfield and Wakefield depots.
Donning fancy dress outfits, team Wakefield’s Cowboys took on the Huddersfield depot’s Indians with the Huddersfield team winning the accolade for best fancy dress.
Collectively the depots raised the most out of the twelve businesses which took part at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield last month.
Amanda Crowther, marketing executive for Arrow Self Drive commented:
“Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has been a charity which we have been proud to support for eleven years now. Family, team and supporting the local community are values which are an important part of Arrow Self Drive and this fantastic charity is close to our heart.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to the local businesses and people who sponsored our teams in the Dragon Boat Race and helped us raise such an incredible amount.”
Established in 1988, family-run business, Arrow Self Drive delivers safe, sustainable and affordable road transport to hundreds of customers across the region. Celebrating over 30 years in business, the company now boasts a fleet of almost 2,000 rental vehicles.
Commenting on the funds raised, Vicky Stackhouse at Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice said:
“It was a wonderful sunny day for our first ever Dragon Boat Race. Such a lovely event with several companies and the Forget Me Not family putting in teams to take on the challenge. We would like to thank everyone for taking part and raising thousands of pounds. A huge congratulations to Arrow Self Drive for taking home the final trophy for ‘Most Sponsorship Raised’, having smashed their £1000 target per team and raising £3013 from their Huddersfield and Wakefield teams. We are thrilled to announce the Dragon Boat Race will return for 2020.”
