'Strong' highlights for Trainline PLC's latest half-year results revealed

Trainline PLC has revealed its half-year results involving ‘strong’ growth amid strategic goals.

The company’s net ticket sales have gone up 19 per cent to £1.8bn, driven by app and web sales. There has also been an apparent greater e-ticket adoption throughout the UK.

Revenue has increased 29 per cent to £129m, whilst adjusted EBITDA has increased 99 per cent to £42m, driven by supposed volume growth plus operating leverage.

There has also been an operating free cashflow total of £60m revealed, driven by the Trainline’s EBITDA performance.

Clare Gilmartin, CEO of Trainline, commented on the results: “We are pleased to have achieved strong growth in the first half of our financial year and to have made good progress against our strategic priorities.

“This includes enhancing our user experience and championing mobile, which in turn accelerated the ongoing shift of customers from offline to online.”

She added: “We continue to focus on making rail and coach travel easier for customers worldwide, thereby encouraging a much greener way to travel.

“As most rail and coach tickets continue to be sold offline at the station, and as customers and governments commit to more environmentally friendly modes of travel, we see significant growth opportunities for Trainline over the long term.”
