mac-group hands over £5m office refurbishment to IM Properties
West Midlands-based construction company mac-group has completed a £5 million extension and refurbishment of an office building that has been designed with staff wellbeing in mind.
The contractor was appointed by commercial property developer IM Properties to undertake a comprehensive internal refurbishment and add a feature lobby entrance to One Blythe Gate, at Blythe Valley Park, as well as add a double-stacking cycle store, to attract a new occupier.
As well as creating an enhanced private exterior space with external landscaping and lighting for a new footpath and trees, it installed a new shower and changing area, which includes three showers, toilets and changing facilities to appeal to a modern occupier.
The six-month project also saw mac-group overhauling the interior space of the three-floor building, creating an impressive front entrance lobby and reception area with feature lighting, staircase with bespoke LED lighting inserted into the handrail, and striking glass balustrade.
The team also installed bespoke feature oak joinery numeration panels to each floor, as well as comprehensive mechanical and electrical installations with energy-saving LED lighting controlled by motion sensors, and a new roof.
Ray O’Sullivan, director at the mac-group, said: “We’re proud to have delivered a stunning refurbished office building to IM Properties, which has been brought up to date for the modern occupier, with high quality finishes, break out areas and collaborative work spaces.
“The finished product is ideal for a premium occupier wanting to join occupiers on this first-class business park.”
Rebecca Maughan project manager for IM Properties’ in-house project delivery team added: “We set out to deliver a best-in-class, HQ opportunity and the feedback we’ve received from the market and property agents to date is that we have more than surpassed their expectations. An exceptional standard of finish has been achieved both internally and externally, with some people even mistaking One Blythe Gate for a new build, rather than a refurbishment.
“It sets a new standard on the M42 and once again IM Properties is investing in BVP to attract some of the region’s most forward thinking occupiers who want a modern working environment to future proof their business.”
