Barratt Developments North East partners with Changing Lives charity for festive season

Barratt Developments North East, which includes both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has partnered with North East based charity, Changing Lives, to help provide a special Christmas for those who need it most. To support its partnership, the housebuilder is calling on North East residents for their support in donating items to drop-off stations located in every sales office across the region, including Newcastle, Durham, Morpeth, Sunderland and Stockton.

Changing Lives, a national charity based in the North East, is dedicated to providing specialist support for vulnerable people and their families across the region, helping them to make meaningful and lasting improvements to their lives. This includes offering support to those who are experiencing homelessness, people who are living with addiction and recovery, women and children, as well as those who are experiencing employment difficulties. The Christmas period is often a lonely and isolating time for many people that the charity supports and a donation from Changing Lives is likely to be the only gift they receive.

Barratt Developments North East has teamed up with the local charity in order to offer its support during this crucial period in the form of festive gifts and practical items that will support their everyday lives. To kickstart the campaign, Barratt Developments will be donating 100 Moving Packs, which will provide much-needed home necessities for those who need it most, and will also be encouraging all of its employees, contractors and residents to donate new items to the charity, ahead of the Christmas period.

All donated gifts must be new and presents for men and women are encouraged. Examples may include hats, scarves and gloves, gift sets, toiletries, nightwear and socks as well as chocolate, biscuits and sweets. Christmas drop-off stations will be open at all sales offices from 1st November and will close on the 13th December. The housebuilder will then deliver these to Changing Lives and help the team allocate the gifts in time for Christmas.

Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with this local charity, Changing Lives, and supporting them with the incredible work that they do to help vulnerable people across the region. We encourage everyone across the North East to visit one of the nearby developments and donate their items at the drop-off stations in the sales offices. Each and every item will be greatly appreciated by those who need it most, and we are hoping that with the support of residents from across the North East, we can help Changing Lives to make this a special Christmas for many more people.”

Jade Brown, Fundraising Manager at Changing Lives, commented: “We’re over the moon that Barratt Developments is committed to helping support Changing Lives over the Christmas period. It’s great to see a housebuilder getting involved with our cause, not only by providing the support that the charity needs, but by housing these drop-off stations which will help more people be able to donate to us, particularly during weekends when our Central Office is closed. We hope that residents of the North East will give generously this festive period in support of Reverse Advent Calendar. The gifts we receive will make a real difference to the people we support and we’re so grateful to Barratt Developments for choosing to support us in this way.”
