Sparx welcomes global expert in education innovation to its Advisory Panel

Sparx, the socially focused learning technology company, has today announced the appointment of Dr Rebecca Winthrop to its Advisory Panel, which provides expert guidance on education policy and practice, data and research ethics, and the impact of education technology.

Dr Winthrop is a Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at The Brookings Institution, a non-profit public policy organisation based in Washington, DC and founded in 1916. Her role is focused on advising governments, international institutions, foundations, and corporations on education issues, and she has written widely on the role of education innovation to accelerate progress and policy. Previously, she was Head of Education at the International Rescue Committee where her role included leading their work in over 20 conflict-affected countries and helping to develop global policy in the field of education in emergencies.

Dr Winthrop’s expertise in global education, coupled with her commitment to impact led education technology, is highly relevant and will enable Sparx to continue its evidence-based development of edtech solutions.

As a member of Sparx’ Advisory Panel, Dr Winthrop’s role will be to provide independent oversight and to challenge Sparx as it works towards its mission to improve the life opportunities of 5 million learners by 2030.

In addition, Dan Sandhu, CEO of Sparx will join CUE’s Leadership Council, offering expertise to help further the centre’s mission to develop and disseminate effective solutions for quality education and skills development.
