Carden Park Couple raise over £27,700 for Nightingale Hospice

An ‘All That Sparkles’ black-tie ball at Carden Park Estate has raised £27,700 for a local Hospice thanks to the organising efforts of Carden couple Kay and Gary Whistler, Paul Ffoulkes and the generosity of over 262 guests.

The couple hosted the glamorous ‘All that sparkles’ Whistler Charity Ball for the fourth year and set a record for the most money raised, helped by support from staff at HSBC and Barclays who volunteered their time and gained match funding.

Guests celebrated in style and enjoyed a glamorous drinks reception and 3 course dinner followed by a charity auction, raffle and dancing into the early hours.

Four years ago the pair formed the Whistler Charity after Kay lost her father Ray and in that time they have raised £59,000 in total for the Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham which, every year helps more than 5,437 people living with life-limiting illnesses.

Kay explains why the Nightingale Hospice is close to her heart, “the help and support offered to not only patients but their families during difficult times is more than you could ever hope for of palliative care. They are compassionate and caring. There are so many families touched by cancer and this is what gives me the drive to attract donations and host fundraising events.

The best moment for us all as a team is handing the donations raised over to the hospice so they can continue their vital work.“

Delyth Underwood from Nightingale House said, “To raise such an enormous amount on one night is tremendous and our heartfelt thanks goes to Kay and Gary Whistler along with Paul Foulkes of Barclays for their drive and determination in fundraising for us.

Our hospice delivers palliative care for local people and the families affected by life limiting illness as well as children and young people experiencing bereavement. The money they have raised will make a big difference.“
