Global cybersecurity firm to expand presence in Manchester

International cybersecurity consultancy Coalfire is set to significantly increase its footprint in the UK after securing new office space in Manchester’s City Tower.

The firm, which is currently based at Manchester One on Portland Street, is to relocate the headquarters of its UK & European operations to City Tower’s 28th floor in early 2020. The move will see the tech company, which employs more than 800 people across 11 sites in the UK and US, occupy approximately 5,500 sq ft in the Manchester landmark.

The much larger space will facilitate Coalfire’s future growth plans in the region. This includes a 50% per cent increase in headcount that will see the firm employ more than 50 people in Manchester in the next 18 months.

With global headquarters in Denver, US, Coalfire’s UK & European operations have been based in Manchester since 2013. The UK outfit has grown from one person to thirty in that time.

Andy Barratt, Coalfire’s managing director for UK & Europe, said: “Awareness of cybersecurity and data protection issues has grown rapidly in the last decade, which has undoubtedly been a key factor in our success to date. As that trend continues, we’re well-placed to build further momentum by helping more businesses sure up their cyber defences.

“Manchester’s digital strengths and international connectivity make it the perfect home for a growing, tech-focussed business. A fantastic new space in one of the city’s most iconic buildings is the perfect move for us as we look to grow the size of our team and continue building the business here at pace.”

Tom McAndrew, CEO at Coalfire, said: “The UK has become a second home to us as we see continued demand from our customers to provide global support. We are partnering with a host of rapidly expanding, cyber-aware businesses in the region, many of which have operations in the US, so we see it as integral to our ability to act as an international advisor both now and in the future.”

Coalfire is a cybersecurity consultancy that provides services including cyber risk and cloud security assessments, penetration testing and security architecture, analysis and monitoring.

The firm also helps businesses comply with a range of international security and data protection standards such as PCI DSS, GDPR and FedRAMP – the security certification needed to provide services to the US Federal Government.
