Northern Insight - Still doing business at 50

Since July 2015, Northern Insight magazine has been triumphing North East business, giving a voice to thousands of firms across the region.

However, autumn 2019 is an opportunity for Northern Insight to sing its own praises because the 50th edition has recently been circulated.

Northern Insight was founded by Mike Grahamslaw who has worked in publishing ever since he left school over 30 years ago. Mike accrued a wealth of experience managing a wide-ranging portfolio of titles and today is the North East’s longest serving independent magazine proprietor.

In 2015, he knew there was a need for a publication to offer a showcase for local firms and individuals to promote themselves and their products and services. The publication had to be topical, look good and go to the right places to find the right readership.

So, Mike took the plunge and established Northern Insight.

“I started from nothing, working from home, and somehow managed to produce a first edition which extended to 100 pages,” said Mike. “This latest edition is more than double that figure. Our distribution area has also increased so that the magazine can now be found across the entire region. As well as covering various business areas like legal, technology, property, finance and media, Northern Insight has expanded into covering more news stories, the arts and social events. However, our primary aim is to reflect all businesses across the region, small or large, and ensure that they have an extremely cost effective method of getting their message across.”

Despite its impressive growth, Northern Insight is still a family business and remains totally independent, something of which Mike is extremely proud. He’s also developed a network of vastly experienced writers, designers and photographers. Many of you reading this will have met one or more of them.

Northern Insight is a magazine for the whole of the North East and, thanks to an impressive online presence www.northern-insight.co.uk is now being read by more people than ever.
