Fusion PR Creative supports local charities this Christmas

North-East based public relations and creative company, Fusion PR Creative, has taken steps to ensure that residents from Tyne and Wear and Northumberland have access to a warm meal and food this Christmas.

Fusion has kindly donated to local charities Blyth Food Bank and The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle.

Blyth Food Bank received a £100 food donation and items will be available to those who need it most within the local community.

The company also purchased Christmas dinners at The People’s Kitchen which has been helping homeless and disadvantaged people for over thirty years. Every £5 donated provides one person with a hot, freshly cooked meal. Volunteers serve over 100 hot meals every night in Newcastle city centre which totals approximately 40,000 meals per year and over 35,000 unpaid hours of voluntary work.

Laura Chisholm of Fusion PR Creative said: “We’re pleased to be helping so many people gain access to food this Christmas. Due to increasing costs of living, more people are finding it hard to budget for essential food items and it’s important that companies, like Fusion, help support local food banks and charitable organisations.

“The work carried out by the staff and volunteers from both of these inspiring organisations plays a crucial role in many people’s day-to-day lives, especially at Christmas. We really hope that where possible other local businesses and residents are able to make donations in aid of local people.”

The food bank has been operating within Blyth, Seaton Delaval and Seaton Sluice since 2014 and was set up to help combat the growing need for food support due to increased financial hardship across Northumberland. The charity recently gained more storage access for their goods in Richard Stannard House, meaning they can now collect and store further supplies.

Blyth Food Bank has several collection points across the town and the neighbouring areas in which people can donate emergency food and toiletry supplies. The charity also helps provide support to other areas such as Whitley Bay, Cramlington and Wansbeck when called upon by other food banks. The team often work together with neighbouring organisations in order to maximise their reach.

Adrienne Ruddock of Blyth Food Bank said: “We want to help as many people as we can this Christmas and donations like the one given by Fusion really help us make a difference. Christmas can be a big financial burden for many, especially when it comes to food.

“We’re seeing more people than ever visit our food bank and the shelves are emptying faster than ever before which really emphasises the current financial strain people are under and the demand we’re facing.

“The support and donations from local residents and businesses really helps us keep our shelves stocked and many vulnerable people fed. We’re very grateful to Fusion PR Creative for their support this Christmas.”
