Miller Homes Appoints New Apprentices For 2020 Growth Plans

As the demand for new homes continues, with 20,000 new homes being the cited requirement in Yorkshire over the next decade, one housebuilder has made a committed investment in its future by appointing a raft of apprentices and trainees.

Miller Homes has welcomed four apprentices and three trainees to its production team, the team that are responsible for the construction of the homes across the region, all managed from its regional Wakefield office.

“2020 is set to be a big year for us in the region, and the start of a new decade in the business, with several new sites due to open, some of which will require increased numbers in the teams to deliver the growth we have planned,” commented Paul Ramsbottom, Production Director, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “We want to invest heavily in training staff to support the Miller Homes ethos – building quality homes and building communities, all whilst retaining the five-star customer experience for which we are renowned.”

Harry Rayne, Thomas James and Jamie Hughes join the team as Apprentice Bricklayers whilst Matthew Law is an Apprentice Joiner. Darren Bennett joins as a Trainee Assistant Site Manager. In addition, two new Assistant Site Managers; Ford Harrison and Paul Carmichael have been appointed and Stuart Hall begins the next phase of his career as Contracts Manager based at the Wakefield Office.

“Housebuilding and the wider construction sector is a fantastic, fast paced industry to work in and essential to the growth and prosperity of not only the Yorkshire region, but the wider UK economy,” said Paul. “We offer the warmest of welcomes to all our new members of the team and wish them a long and happy career with Miller Homes.”

Thomas James, Apprentice Bricklayer from Barnsley commented; “Getting a job with Miller Homes is great and gives me the chance to learn the trade and train on the job all whilst starting my career and earning a living. I’m really enjoying it and think that apprenticeships with businesses like Miller Homes really do give young people lots of opportunities.”
