Sushi Daily crowned best ‘food to go’ option

KellyDeli, owners of the Sushi Daily brand, scooped winning title at this year’s Quality Food Awards as its Cured Salmon Menu claimed first place in the ‘Foodservice Food to Go’ sushi category.

The annual event, which took place at The Brewery in London on Friday 22 November, is the most prestigious awards ceremony for food and drink products on sale in the UK.

Served with peppery rocket leaves and tart pickled cucumber, the 16 hour cured salmon has a rich umami taste, almost barbeque-like, with a subtle background heat of wasabi.

The product came out on top after a 400-strong panel of food industry experts judged products based on factors including: taste, innovation, presentation and value for money.

The result saw popular alternatives, such as Morrisons Vegan Hosomaki Sushi Rolls and the Aldi Fish Sushi Selection, pipped to the post. Sushi Daily counters, found in over 100 selected UK Waitrose and Asda stores, offer an open kitchen experience with a chef on site. The focus is on fresh natural ingredients offering a handmade alternative to grab-and-go convenience food.

KellyDeli UK Managing Director Daniel Coole said: “We’re over the moon to have won the award. The whole team at Sushi Daily have contributed to our success and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their commitment to continued innovation and excellence with our product range. If you haven’t tried our award-winning cured salmon menu yet, I urge you to go and check it out!”
