Hays Sleep Outs raise over £28,000 for leading youth homelessness charity

Hays, the leading recruiting expert, has raised over £28,000 for their charity partner End Youth Homelessness by taking part in Sleep Out events across the UK.

Over 60 Hays employees voluntarily spent a night sleeping on the streets in recent weeks to raise awareness of homeless young people in the UK. The Sleep Out events were arranged by End Youth Homelessness’ network of 11 local member charities across the UK.

Several Sleep Out events in London raised over £10,000 collectively, followed by events in the South East and New Malden, which each raised over £4,200. Sleep Out events were also held in the East of England, the Midlands and Northern Ireland.

The money raised will go directly to End Youth Homelessness’ Employability Fund, which over the course of a year will help 80 young people into employment, education and training pathways. The fund will provide homeless young people with individually-tailored support to work towards their career goals, whatever their previous education or work experience.

Hays has raised over £42,000 for End Youth Homelessness since partnering with the charity in July this year.

Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Hays UK and Ireland, comments: “We’re extremely proud to have raised such a significant amount for our charity partner, End Youth Homelessness, in the lead up to Christmas and continue our ongoing support for homeless young people in the UK. This issue is close to the hearts of many of us at Hays, so it’s fantastic that over 60 of our staff took part in Sleep Out events to raise such vital funds and awareness. We hope our fundraising for End Youth Homelessness will help raise funds which will help towards giving homeless young people a chance to make it off the streets and into education and employment.”

Nick Connolly, Managing Director of End Youth Homelessness, said: “We are enormously grateful to everyone at Hays for their hard work and support so far. To have raised such a fantastic sum in the first few months of the partnership is an incredible achievement and testament to their dedicated and generous workforce. Special thanks must also go to those that gave up their beds on a cold November night and slept out across the UK to raise money for our Employability Fund. The money raised will help homeless young people build the skills, confidence and high aspirations they need to get into work and out of homelessness for good.”
