Law firm reaffirm their commitment to community in fantastic 2019

Leading law firm Prettys has once again given back to the local community in 2019 with a number of charity initiatives.

The Ipswich based firm place the community at the core of everything they do and 2019 has seen it raise over £3,000 for good causes in the area and beyond. The year has also seen the firm undertake the equivalent of over £10,000 of pro bono work through Suffolk ProHelp, through which it advises voluntary and community groups on legal matters.

CEO Ian Carr explained this approach: “At Prettys we are always looking to continue our commitment to delivering the best results for our community,” he said.

“Each year we assess our corporate social responsibilities (CSR) policy and look at ways we can do even more, and I’m pleased to say that 2019 has seen us excel once again in this area.”

Prettys’ charity of the year for 2019 has been GeeWizz, a charity that supports children and young people in East Anglia with life-threatening conditions, a disability or cancer. Much of the firm’s CSR activity this year has helped GeeWizz continue their vital work with a whole host of initiatives.

This includes a Bake-Off Week, a Dress Down Day and Christmas Jumper Day to name but a few. As well as this Prettys put on a Corporate Quiz in September which raised over £1,000 for the charity.

This year the firm has also supported St Elizabeth Hospice, which helps people living with progressive and terminal illnesses. Prettys raised money for the hospice during ‘RideFest’ in February, where the firm’s employees took part in a cycling challenge.

The firm was similarly ‘active’ in supporting the Soma Leo Foundation’s ‘Row-a-fun’ in May to raise funds for the Soma Leo Academy, a community school in Nyiera, Kenya.

Michael Booth is Prettys’ CSR co-coordinator and he explained more about the firm’s CSR efforts.

“It is important that we give back to the community with our CSR activities and make a positive impact wherever we can,” he said.

“We are proud to have supported a number of wonderful causes this year raising money that will make a real difference to people within the community.”

Prettys look set to continue this trend in 2020 with a number of initiatives lined up. The firm plan to continue to provide free legal advice to clients through Suffolk Law Centre and to support the centre and the Eastern Legal Support Trust through taking part in the sponsored 10 km Ipswich Legal Walk.

The firm also plan to again take part in regular fundraising events for Comic Relief and Children in Need and to participate in St Elizabeth Hospice’s RideFest.
