MBNA staff journey to Neverland via Chester’s Storyhouse
Dreams do come true for staff at MBNA, as they were welcomed to an exclusive showing of Storyhouse’s latest production, the JM Barrie classic children’s story, Peter Pan.
As Storyhouse’s principal sponsor, MBNA staff and their families were invited to be amongst the first to watch the brand-new version of the show. Created by Olivier award-winning playwright Gary Owen, Peter Pan will run for the public at the multi award-winning theatre until Sunday 12 January 2020.
The high-flying adventure is brought to life by director Martin Constantine and designer, April Dalton with musical direction from Harry Blake.
The new show will allow audiences to marvel at the forever-young Peter Pan, as he sails through the skies to bring Wendy and the Darling children to the Lost Children’s enchanted island, all whilst avoiding the fearsome Captain Hook, who rules over the high sea.
As principal sponsor of Storyhouse, MBNA is committed to local community projects and helping local residents get the most out of the inspirational spaces available to them and has supported Storyhouse as a cultural hub since it opened in 2017.
“We’re incredibly proud to support Storyhouse and its popular programme of shows, events and activities,” said Anna Johnson from MBNA. “This new Peter Pan adaption is a fantastic example of the theatre’s creativity in its sector and its absolute dedication to unique and memorable performances.
“The preview evening we attended was fantastically organised, with lots of happy children wanting to join the Lost Boys as they left the show. This adaptation is a must-see for any local families around Chester this Christmas time. The cast and all the supporting crew have expertly brought to life all the magic that we’ve come to expect from Neverland, the second star to the right.”
Alex Clifton, artistic director at Storyhouse, said: “The support we receive from MBNA as a principal sponsor is incredible, which is why we’re always happy to welcome their staff along to our preview shows and let them experience an enjoyable evening at our popular theatre.
“We want to thank MBNA once again for their funding and continued enthusiasm. It’s wonderful to see a local business with such a keen interest in the local Chester community.”
