Barratt Developments North East volunteers at local community centre

16 employees from Barratt Developments North East’s Commercial team have taken time out of their busy schedules to help redecorate the Dunston Activity Centre in Gateshead, as part of their Donate A Day volunteering programme. The initiative, which all Barratt Developments employees have the opportunity to take part in, enables volunteers to spend a day assisting with local community projects.

Placed within the heart of the community, Dunston Activity Centre is home to a variety of activities including monthly coffee mornings, parent and toddler groups, sports activities and many more. Employees from the Commercial team, including Commercial Director Ryan Lincoln, spent a day volunteering at the local centre, repainting the main activity hall, as part of the community centre’s ongoing refurbishment project. The newly painted hall has provided the centre with a refreshed space for all visitors to enjoy, which the charity would have otherwise not been able to afford due to a lack of funding.

Ryan Lincoln, Commercial Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “We were delighted to be able to support the Dunston Activity Centre by volunteering to update the space, and we’re so pleased that the team are happy with the results! Here at Barratt Developments North East, we always work really hard to give back to the communities that we build in and the Donate A Day initiative allows us to do exactly that. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that the refreshed space will have on the community who rely on it so much.”

Mr Ed Nichols at Dunston Activity Centre commented: “We’re extremely grateful to all of the team members at Barratt Developments North East who have taken the time to support the local community centre. As a charity, we heavily rely on the support and donations from those within the community, and we would not have been able to redecorate the community centre without Barratt’s help. It’s wonderful to see a local housebuilder getting involved with the community and their hard work will truly make a difference towards the refurbishment.”
