Housebuilder rounds off year of fundraising for Wessex Cancer Trust
As we head into a new year, Barratt Homes has rounded off a full year of fundraising for the company’s chosen charity of the year, Wessex Cancer Trust.
Most recently the housebuilder supported a new festive charity event on the Isle of Wight in November, stepping on board as sponsor of the UK’s first ever Frosty 5k event hosted by Wessex Cancer Trust.
Barratt Homes has donated an impressive total of over £36,000 to Wessex Cancer Trust. The gesture is part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it works in by working with good causes that benefit local people.
Managing director Jon Green said: “We’re proud to have been fundraising for Wessex Cancer Trust as our charity of the year and we know first-hand the fantastic work the team and its volunteers are doing to support local people. Throughout the year the teams have taken part in a number of brilliant events to raise money for this very worthy cause.”
The charity’s Corporate Partnerships and Events Manager, Laura Beavis, said: “Barratt Homes recognises how important it is to be there for anyone living with cancer and we’re so grateful for their support this year. We’ve seen a 30% increase in demand for our services during 2019 and support like this is invaluable in helping to ensure we can be there for everybody who needs us.”
As part of fundraising for Wessex Cancer Trust as its official charity of the year, the teams from Barratt Homes have been undertaking a variety of fundraising challenges and events for the cause. The company also donated furniture from its show homes to the charity’s new cancer support centre in Newport, Isle of Wight.
