Promotion and new appointment at Warwick business

One of the UK’s leading strategic land companies has made two key appointments in its planning department.

Richard Edwards has been promoted to Group Planning Director at L&Q Estates and Russell Crow has joined as Planning Director.

Richard has nearly 30 years’ experience as a town planner in both the private and public sector. After starting his career at a local authority, he then moved onto a national planning consultancy before moving into the housebuilding sector at Barratt Developments and Redrow Homes. Richard joined L&Q Estates in November 2017.

His new position will involve being a member of the Warwick-based business’s senior management team, leading on planning related matters.

“House-building is primarily my background as I’ve worked for regional and national house builders as a strategic planning director and strategic land director so I have vast experience in the promotion of strategic land,” he said.

“At L&Q Estates, we have an enviable track record of delivering medium and large-scale strategic development sites and I’m looking forward to continuing to help provide high-quality developments in communities across the UK.”

Russell has over 10 years’ experience as a town planner after graduating from Coventry University with a degree in geography and a Master’s degree in spatial planning at Birmingham City University.

He has obtained experience in both the public and private sector as a consultant, working most recently as a Regional Director at Richborough Estates in Birmingham before moving to L&Q Estates.

Russell is also a member of the Technical and Policy Committee for the Land Promoters and Developers Federation (LPDF) which is made up of the UK’s leading land promotion and development businesses.

He said: “At L&Q Estates, I will be predominantly overseeing sites through the planning process; working with local authorities, landowners and consultants to progress sites through Local Plans or planning applications.

“I will also be working with the land and planning team internally at L&Q Estates to feed into the strategy for site finding and assessing sites that have been offered by land agents.

“I will be working throughout the country and am joining at an exciting time for the business with an excellent portfolio of sites to promote and deliver, to ensure that we can play a significant role in tackling the housing crisis.”
