Outstanding Veganuary for Yorkshire-based Freaks of Nature
Demand for Yorkshire-based desserts brand Freaks of Nature’s latest product has exceeded expectation. The company, who launched a guilt-free, indulgent chocolate mousse in time for Veganuary, has seen sales soar by 200% in the first three weeks of the year. This latest product from the expanding company is the only plant-based Belgium chocolate mousse currently available in the UK.
Made at Freaks of Nature’s state-of-the-art production facility in Ossett, the mousse’s delicate, creamy texture has been created using an aerated process and brings a new light-to-eat dimension to the brand’s existing range of chilled desserts and hot puddings.
Commenting on the new product launch Freaks of Nature Founder Peter Ahye said: “We’re all about making innovative, great tasting desserts that everyone will love. Whether that’s someone looking for a vegan and allergen-free alternative, a lower calorie chocolate fix or just a really gorgeous sweet treat for all the family. The new mousses are proving to be a big hit with kids especially.
“We had a fantastic year last year developing a number of great new puds, growing our production capacity and attracting some significant new retailers. We also won a number of leading industry accolades including The Grocers Best Start Up award. Following the really positive interest we have already received for our new mousse and the unstoppable rise in veganism we’re seeing here in the UK, I think this next year is going to be an even more exciting one for us!”
Peter Ahye launched Freaks of Nature in 2016 having identified a gap in the market for inclusive, delicious tasting vegan and vegetarian puds. A passionate foodie, Peter set about developing a range of ganaches, cheesecakes and hot puddings which the company now supplies to major retailers including Co-op, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado, Planet Organic and Whole Foods.
All of Freaks of Nature’s desserts are produced in its purpose-built facility which is British Retail Consortium (BRC) grade A accredited and is the largest factory of its kind in Europe. Developed to meet the needs of people with dairy, gluten and egg allergies and for those following a vegan or vegetarian plant-based lifestyle, the company’s products are suitable for over 98% of the UK’s consumers. By the end of January the dessert market disrupter will have 20 products on sale.
