Housebuilder employees dress down for charity

Employees from a Nottingham housebuilder used their dress-down Fridays to raise more than £1,000 for charities in 2019 and hope to increase the figure this year.

The Salvation Army Mansfield sleeping bags for the homeless, Prostate Cancer Research, Mind, the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Macmillan all benefited from the donation from Persimmon Homes Nottingham.

The charities were chosen by the Persimmon Homes employees as part of their casual Friday fundraising events. In total £1,090 was raised with more than £270 being awarded to the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

Persimmon Homes Nottingham’s managing director Neil Follows was delighted with his team’s support.

He said: “The one-pound donation every Friday was completely optional, but this final total goes to prove that every penny counts. I am very grateful and proud of my team.

“Naturally we want to raise more money this year. Previously, it has just been our Mansfield office team which has been able to support these fundraising events, but we may be able to look at extending this to some of our site teams as well.

“I am already hearing about many worthy causes that members of my team want to support. The list is certainly not finalised and is likely to grow during the year, but many of my team are expressing a strong desire to support children cancer organisations and homeless charities.”
