This marks phase two of the Callerton Park development scheme, which will eventually comprise around 3,000 homes.

Plans approved for phase two of new 3,000-home town in Newcastle

Plans have been approved for the next phase of a 3,000-home new town which is taking shape to the west of Newcastle.

Ashberry Homes will build 184 new homes on land at Callerton after planning permission was granted by Newcastle City Council.

The development, known as Church View, will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties, with 30 of the homes being provided as affordable housing.

The homes will be built to the north of Stamfordham Road and to the west of Whorlton Lane. An area of public open space will be created within the site, while hedge and tree planting will take place close to the southern boundary of the development.

Church View forms the second phase of the East Middle Callerton site, which is set to deliver around 600 homes on a site north of Stamfordham Road. It is part of the wider Callerton Park development scheme, which will eventually comprise around 3,000 homes.

Sales manager for Ashberry Homes Durham, Darren Pelusi, commented: “We are naturally pleased that our plans to bring additional homes to this exciting new community have been approved.

“As well as delivering much-needed homes in a convenient and accessible location, our development will provide significant contributions towards local infrastructure and facilities.

“Church View will feature 16 different house types, offering a wide variety of homes to cater for people at all stages of the property ladder.”
