Open Day unveils new supported living in Leeds
Care provider, Heathcotes Group, hosted an Open Day this week to introduce a new provision of independent supported living properties which the company has built in Leeds.
Heathcotes, which specialises in services for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, has developed eight spacious apartments at Green Lane in Beeston to accommodate individuals who are stepping down from a hospital or full-time residential care setting to develop their independent living skills. Each including their own lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area, the properties offer a self-contained environment that benefits from 24-hour staffing to provide support when needed. Providing an opportunity to view the facilities and meet the support team, the Open Day was exceptionally well attended by visiting local authority representatives, care professionals, service users and family members.
Heathcotes’ Director of Business Development, Natalia Lysiuk, said:
“We have already established independent supported living at various other locations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, but our new apartment development in Beeston is the largest provision we have built on a single site and I’m delighted to say that the interest has been huge, both locally and regionally. We received some very positive feedback from the many Open Day visitors, and we are already planning similar developments in Yorkshire based on the exact model we have introduced here.
“Heathcotes have been providing full-time residential care services since 2004, but in recent years we have developed independent supported living to form a full care pathway, with complete independence as the ultimate destination for many service users. These apartments are an ideal environment for service users to further their independence and improve their daily living skills, but they are also suitable for individuals who require a single-person service due to their complexity and inability to live with others. Care professionals, families and commissioning groups are invited to contact our head office to discuss the opportunities we are creating in this region.”
With a head office in Chesterfield, Heathcotes Group has over 72 residential care services nationwide. The company provides a range of specialist services supporting individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, Personality Disorder, physical disabilities, Prader-Willi Syndrome, sensory impairments, speech difficulties and severe epilepsy.
