Key Promotions As North East-based Building Consultancy Grows
SUNDERLAND-based development company Identity Consult, which delivered the award-winning Beacon of Light on time and on budget, has restructured its board to deal with a growing order book.
The firm of building development consultants, which also oversaw the development and completion of the Hope Street Exchange and the recent refurbishment of Hays Travel’s Keel Street HQ in the city, is preparing for a busy 2020 with many projects outside the region.
Although based in the Quay West Business Village on Sunderland’s riverside, Identity Consult has enjoyed rapid growth across the north of England in the past two years.
Alex Atkinson, who works out of the company’s Preston office, has been made an equity director following significant business growth on the other side of the Pennines.
In a related move, Matty Pendergast, in Preston, will now take a business-wide role, sharing his skills across offices in York and Sunderland, while on Wearside, Mark Williams, former associate director, has also been promoted to the board after making important contributions to the business over the last 18 months.
Identity Consult’s MD, Mark Doherty, who led a management buyout of the company in May 2018, said: “Alex and Mark both deserve places on the board in the wake of their accomplishments while using Matty’s proven skills and abilities company-wide can only benefit the business.
“Since our management buy-out, Identity Consult has gone from strength-to-strength with involvement in several high-profile and award-winning projects across the North of England, including the Beacon of Light.
“And, as a company, our ethos is that success should be rewarded.”
Alex Atkinson, who joined the company in March 2017, has been key to the growth of Identity Consult in the North West of England.
She developed important relationships with the North West housing frameworks as well as playing a key role in the delivery of a number of projects at Lancaster University.
Although Matty Pendergast will continue to be based in Preston, delivering project management for key clients such as Lancaster University and Edge Hill University, he will operate across the whole of the North.
Mark Williams joined Identity Consult in April 2018, taking charge of the Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveyors team.
Since then he has secured numerous contracts while also playing an important role in business organisation, training and development.
Mark Doherty added: “To maintain our growth and achieve our aspirations, we have taken the opportunity to re-align the Board of Director responsibilities, giving us greater efficiency and capabilities and creating more opportunities to make our vision of becoming the Development Consultant of choice in the North a reality.”
