New Home, New Targets and New People for Newcastle Logistics Company

The Newcastle branch of Europa Road, a division of the UK’s leading independent logistics provider, Europa Worldwide Group, is celebrating a booming start to 2020 with a move to a new office.

The team of 13, which offers a comprehensive road freight service for import and export to and from Europe, now has a spacious home at Silverlink Business Park in Wallsend that is twice the size of its previous office in Monkton Business Park and is ideal for its ambitious expansion plans this year.

Led by experienced Branch Manager Mat Jobson - who has worked for the business for 20 years - Europa’s Newcastle branch celebrated its most successful quarter to date at the end of 2019 and his kick started 2020 with recruitment and fresh bold targets.

Mat said: “We’re thrilled to have moved from our old office in Monkton Business Park to this great new unit in Wallsend which means we can now realise our plan to grow the size of the team. Despite the obvious distraction of Brexit last year, our results have been really positive with record performance for profit and consignments ending the year with our strongest quarter ever.

“2020 has started with a bang too, with our passionate Account Managers attracting new customers and growing our existing accounts already. Our new office means we have the space to expand further as our account base continues to grow. We have plans to bring a new Account Manager on board this month as well as two school leavers as part of our RAPID career development programme come September.

“Our goal for 2020 is to continue to cement our position as the leading logistics operator of choice in the North East and to build on our outstanding results from last year.”

Sales and Branch Network Director at Europa Dionne Redpath added: “I’m delighted with the excellent results our Newcastle branch achieved last year and really pleased to see them already thriving in their new home.

“Europa Road, which has 13 branches throughout the UK including in Newcastle, is in it’s strongest position ever. Brexit hasn’t hurt us. Turnover per head is up, and profit per head is up dramatically thanks to a division-wide focus on efficiency, versatility and cross-selling in 2019. As a whole, Road division’s turnover has increased by 13%, from £108m to £122m, and profit before interest and tax has climbed a massive 26% from £4.5m to £5.7m.

“The hard work of all our passionate Account Managers leads to these fantastic results and we’re thrilled to be investing in our people as well as our services with developments such as the move to this new space in Newcastle.”

Europa Worldwide Group is a specialist road, air & sea, warehouse and showfreight operator employing more than 900 people across its 16 sites in the UK, as well as Hong Kong and Belgium, with representation in 100 countries.

The business has a turnover of £180m, is included in The Sunday Times Top Track 250 companies for 2019 and is currently working on building its largest ‘best in class’ warehouse facility to date in Corby, Northants.
