GIN-spiring Conversation Over G & Tea

Leeds Charity HQ Host Tea Party with a Twist to Raise National Awareness

Ginspiring the people of Yorkshire to raise a cuppa (gin or tea) are brainstrust, a charity dedicated to supporting people with a brain tumour in Leeds and across the UK. This March is their national campaign G & Tea Fest, raising funds to support people with a brain tumour and their loved ones during Brain Tumour Awareness Month.

For gin and tea lovers across Yorkshire, there is an open invitation to attend Tailors G & Tea Fest, at Tailors – the Perfect Measure, Leeds very own gin producing speakeasy, in the Grand Arcade, 5.30pm till late on Thursday 5th March.

There are 4066 people living with a brain tumour in West Yorkshire and Harrogate. Hearing the words “you have a brain tumour” is devastating, and can often lead to feelings of isolation, fear and loss of control. Symptoms can include loss of mobility, fatigue and behaviour and personality changes.

Tom Cowie, Head of Income at brainstrust, commented: “These are just some of the things that can make life with a brain tumour lonely. But, it doesn’t have to be. By coming along to this event, you’ll be showing the 68,000 people in the UK affected that you care. The money raised will ensure that we can continue to be there for those who need us most.”

Tailors speakeasy will transport people back in time to a lively Prohibition shindig. Guests will be encouraged to take on a stylish new persona by rummaging through the bar’s infamous 1920s vintage costume box for the evening.

Attendees can expect Tailors craft gin as the base for their G&Ts, as well as teacup cocktails, including the exclusive brainstrust Bramble - created specifically for the event.

For those who are off the hard stuff there will be good old-fashioned Yorkshire Tea on tap, as well as selection of mocktails.

Jamila Juma-Ware, co-owner of Tailors, said: “This is the second year we have been asked to host this event, and I hope it will remain a staple in our calendar. We have supported brainstrust for over 18months now, and we cannot think of a better way to encourage awareness and recognition, not just for raising money for the great work the charity undertake, but also for spreading the word on recognising symptoms and supporting those living with the diagnosis.”

Donations will be taken for brainstrust throughout the evening and a percentage of everything sold will go directly to the charity. The bar will be taking donations over the weekend too, for those who can’t make the event but want to get involved.

Tickets to Tailors G or Tea Fest are free but limited. Get GINspired and join us in letting the 68,000 people living with a brain tumour know they’re not alone.
