Wetherby Opticians makes major expansion investment
A Wetherby opticians has reconfirmed its ongoing commitment to the town by investing £500,000 into expanding its presence in the town centre, and hiring nine new recruits to service increased demand.
Specsavers has been a mainstay of Market Place for more than 15 years. Its revamp, unveiled on 22nd February, updating the whole retail area and increasing the number of appointments the team can offer for sight tests, contact lenses and audiology.
The expansion to a larger unit on Market Place was essential to keep up with the demand for audiology and optical services, after continued support from customers in the town.
Geoff Harper, Store Director at Specsavers Wetherby, has worked at the store since it opened in 2004. He says: ’We were very excited to unveil the new store and we know that customers new and old will welcome the changes.
’We have worked hard to ensure that the improvements will help us to accommodate customers more quickly and comfortably while retaining the high quality of customer care that we pride ourselves on.
He added: ‘Over the past 15 years I have seen the Wetherby store improve and grow. We hope our customers enjoyed the opening of the store and we’d like to thank them for their patience while renovations took place’.
As well as sight and hearing tests, the store will now provide a wide range of optical and audiology services, equipped with four test rooms as well as a sound treated room. The Wetherby store will also significantly boost audiology services, something that is very much needed in the region.
From early March the store will boast a £40k OCT machine, a piece of eye scanning equipment that is usually only found in hospitals. This will allow optometrists to see into the eye more clearly than ever before, resulting in more accurate and earlier detection of eye diseases.
