Tees based Consultants’ global plans
One of the largest independent health and safety consultancies within the UK renewables sector, Tees-based Steel River Consultants has announced its plans for growth following a recent expansion.
The company has reported £1.2m turnover in 2019 and is on target to reach a £1.75m turnover this year.
Thanks to global contracts, Steel River has begun to expand its workforce and is considering plans to open offices into London, Edinburgh and Bristol within the next 12 months.
Over the years Steel River Consultants has overseen 687 projects in 10 countries including Italy, China, the USA, Norway and Denmark, working with clients in a variety of sectors ranging from renewable and petrochemical to social housing and insurance.
Graham Tyerman, Managing Director at Steel River, said: “Steel River has had fantastic opportunities across the globe. Working with notable clients on various continents has put us in a brilliant position to showcase the talent the North East has to offer.
“Investment into the business has enabled us to increase opportunities and turnover and further cement the development of Steel River.”
Two new safety consultants have also been welcomed to the team, with Andrea Nichols working with one of Europe’s leading solar energy companies and Ian Richardson overseeing the final elements of an off-shore wind project in the South of England.
The company has also recently undertaken a £30,000 redevelopment of its head offices at Preston Farm Business Park in Stockton.
The extension, helped by a £14,968 grant from the Tees Valley Business Compass, includes a new boardroom, break-out area and updated IT systems to facilitate the company to take on more team members in 2020.
Graham said: “Updating the building and creating a more comfortable working environment is fantastic to continue the development of the business.
“We’re putting the foundations in place for further growth of the business on both safety, costs and project management.”
