Free insurance policy upgrade to help fitness instructors get online

Specialist insurance provider, Insure4Sport, has announced the introduction of free extra cover for personal trainers and fitness instructors. The move will allow 37,159 policyholders to continue working with clients online during the coronavirus outbreak.

The enhanced protection has been automatically updated for free across all existing relevant policies within the insurtech brand’s customer base. It will also be available at no extra charge for new customers. Policyholders are now covered to train up to 30 participants (depending on the type of sport) in one session with one instructor plus cover for pre-recorded online sessions.

Participation in online and virtual fitness sessions have increased exponentially since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, with figures such as Joe Wicks highlighting the need to stay active while at home. On Monday alone, almost a million people tuned into an online PE session run by the influencer and major gym chains have also begun offering digital classes. It’s therefore vital that all members of the fitness community are given the tools they need to keep pace.

John Woosey, Managing Director of Insure4Sport, commented: “These are difficult times for everybody. But self-employed PTs and fitness instructors are being hit especially hard by restrictions put in place to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

“As a responsible insurer, and one that looks after its policyholders, we knew we had to act swiftly to help people continue to earn a living during these unprecedented times. Critically, we want to support everyone in maintaining social distancing. It’s therefore right that we adapt our policies in line with the rapidly changing climate.

“I’m pleased we were able to turn this around so quickly in order that customers looking to switch to running their business online can be set up and earning an income as soon as possible. Encouragingly, the response from our fitness instructors, PTs and coaches so far has been extremely positive. We have been sharing regular updates but will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure that we can react to ongoing guidelines in the best interests of our customers.”

Insure4Sport has provided a wealth of information on how policyholders are affected by the coronavirus outbreak via its website and blog.
