Rugby company mopping up
A cleaning company from Rugby is mopping up extra work after moving to larger premises in the town.
Solutions Services Ltd had been based in Earl Street for seven years but rising demand for cleaning services in the area prompted the company to look for a larger base.
Solutions Services’ new 6,000 sq ft premises in Glebe Farm Industrial Estate is three times larger than its previous headquarters and has enabled the company to employ more cleaners and to take on additional office staff.
The company was made aware of the various local authority funding opportunities on offer by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) Growth Hub, which is funded by Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Solutions Services received £4,808 in funding from the Business Support Programme/Investment Fund, which aims to support regeneration and job creation in Coventry and Warwickshire, and £6,756 from the Coventry and Warwickshire Green Business Programme which helps businesses become more energy and resource efficient. Both programmes are part-funded by the ERDF and are being delivered by Coventry City Council.
Sarah Parrin, Director, Solutions Services, said: “We are thrilled with our new base in the Glebe Farm Industrial Estate. The new premises have enabled us to scale up our operations across the whole business.
“We have bolstered the number of cleaners on our books which, in turn, has allowed us to take on more work. This has also enabled us to employ some of our part-time staff on a full-time basis, so it really is a win-win situation.
“The extra storage capacity has also allowed us to increase the volume of janitorial products we stock which has had a positive effect on our operations.”
Sarah added: “I wasn’t even aware that we were eligible for funding so I am really glad that the CWLEP Growth Hub brought it to our attention.”
The funding secured by Solutions Services allowed it to modernise the building, which was in poor condition when they took it over. The company carried out a complete rewiring of the premises and replaced all of the old windows with double glazing, installed LED lighting throughout and the funding also went towards the installation of a meeting room and kitchen.
Jon Bass, Business Mentor & Account Manager at the CWLEP Growth Hub, said: “Solutions Services has experienced steady growth for a number of years and it was great that we were able to help them with the next stage in their development.
“The company’s expansion is great news for Rugby. Their new base will allow the company to further expand their operations which will have a positive impact on employment in the town.”
Kierandeep Bal, Business Development Advisor at Coventry City Council, said: “It’s great to see the difference our grants can make to small businesses. Moving to a unit that is three times the previous base is a big step and often involves a lot of investment, and taking a sustainable approach to energy consumption is a change many companies will have to make sooner or later so I’m pleased to have supported Solutions Services with their growth plans and raised awareness of our support offering.”
