Ruby's Fund Launches New Community Out-Reach Service with Tixylix Sponsorship
Congleton based children’s charity, Ruby’s Fund, has launched a new community-based support service called ‘Portage’, with help from the children’s cough syrup brand, Tixylix. The local charity, run by Alison Parr, provides social, sensory, educational and recreational services for children, young people, their families and carers at their Sensory Centre on Roe Street, Congleton.
Portage is a home-visiting educational service registered as a charity which aids pre-school children who have special educational needs and disabilities. The scheme will develop key skills through play and educational activities. The service is something Alison wishes she had access to when her child, Ruby, was younger. She comments: “Access to a Portage service would have been amazing when Ruby was young, as it helps to support parents as well as SEND children with their own development. Knowing what your child can and can’t do, and then working together to achieve a new skill, even if it’s as small as catching a ball, can prove a great experience for both of you.
“We’ve decided to set up a Portage service in Congleton because we understand how useful it can be in aiding development and providing support for families, and Tixylix has been a great help in sponsoring us to fund our Portage bags and scheme equipment which will help many families in the local area!”
Children’s cough syrup brand, Tixylix has provided equipment for Ruby Fund’s new Portage service, including bags, educational toys and stationery. This is the first project that Tixylix have partnered with through their new community outreach campaign. Brand manager Amy Barker has commented: “The Ruby’s Fund Portage service caught our attention due to the meaningful support it provides for families within the community. Having a child with developmental difficulties can prove very difficult, and having someone who has an in-depth knowledge about children with special educational needs and disabilities come in to support and aid development for you and your child can be a great help.
“Tixylix is proud to have aided the Ruby’s Fund Portage service through sponsoring their equipment and supplies, helping the charity to provide key support to families within the Congleton and Cheshire East communities.”
