Fulfilment opportunity for online traders
A TEESSIDE logistics group has urged online traders to consider its warehouse service as a way to manage through the Corona crisis.
Burnside Distribution provides a pick and pack distribution service from its 60,000 sq ft Billingham warehouse for companies that do not have their own fulfilment facilities.
The health pandemic has created delays in getting goods distributed via traditional means leading to an increase in people ordering items online.
But without sufficient storage space and access to transport, some online traders may be struggling to keep up with orders.
David Nicholson, Managing Director of Burnside Distribution, said: “Our target market is smaller e-commerce businesses that are finding it difficult to manage at the moment particularly if they are having to store products at home, can’t transport them or are waiting for international deliveries.
“These online businesses may be wondering how they can keep running and this may be the ideal opportunity to think about using a fulfilment service. Via Burnside, their goods can be stored with us and we take care of all the ordering and delivery.”
Burnside Distribution was set up last year as part of the Nicholson Group to service clients including high end bathroom and furniture companies, sportswear brands, cosmetics and machinery part manufacturers.
Mr Nicholson said that some clients had been hit by the Corona virus pandemic but that others, such as for small household items, furniture and a firm that supplies soaps and sanitisers had been very busy.
He added: “It’s an important service we are providing, getting goods out to people in their homes. People perceive there are shortages but that’s not necessarily the case, transport services are still running it’s just a reduced level of services so goods are not reaching the shops as quickly as they were.
“We just want to reach out to smaller online traders who may be feeling a little overwhelmed. They may be thinking there’s a different way to manage this and that’s where a fulfilment service such as Burnside Distribution could really help.”
