A North East housebuilder is investing more than £300k into local infrastructure and facilities.

Bellway’s Durham branch has announced that it is contributing the money as part of its Meadow Rise development, which is providing 75 new homes for the local area.

As part of the planning agreement for the development with Darlington Borough Council, Bellway is investing £229,125 towards improving education provision in Heighington, and £78.9k towards enhancing and maintaining walking and cycling routes in the area.

Darren Pelusi, sales manager for Bellway’s Durham division, commented: “Our Meadow Rise development is bringing considerable benefits to the village of Heighington, with investment in local education, sustainable and public transport and sports provision, as well as delivering much-needed new housing for local people.

“Every home we build is part of a community which we are committed to supporting and enhancing as our developments take shape.

“People who have already moved into their new homes at Meadow Rise are enjoying the benefits of living in this picturesque village location within easy reach of Darlington.

“The development is ideal for families and commuters, close to good local amenities and excellent transport links.

“Although the sales centre is currently closed, we have a range of new homes available to reserve, with more information available online.”
