South Tyneside Council launches COVID-19 business blog to connect businesses with expert advice

South Tyneside Council has launched a digital blog series aimed at connecting its businesses affected by COVID-19 with practical advice from a range of specialists from within the borough.

The series includes topics such as IT for homeworking, from ITC Digital, advice on supporting employee mental health and wellbeing from the HR Department, a look at public relations post COVID-19 from PR agency Bradley O’Mahoney, Carl Buckley of Urban River Creative shares how to get more leads via your website, as well as insights into how to build trust, by local entrepreneur Ian Farrar.

Hosted on the Invest South Tyneside website, it forms part of the ongoing support being provided by the dedicated hub set up by South Tyneside Council to help local firms unlock government grants and other vital financial aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cllr Iain Malcolm, Leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “Businesses are currently facing and overcoming immense challenges. The team at the hub has been doing all they can to provide local firms with the advice and targeted support they need to continue to operate in these difficult times.

“By connecting businesses owners, leaders and managers with practical advice and specialists from within the South Tyneside business community, we are equipping them with actionable knowledge to support their businesses through this period and beyond while at the same time putting them in touch with experts in the borough.”

The council has paid out more than £21million in financial support to eligible businesses under the small business and retail, hospitality and leisure grant fund to businesses struggling because of the coronavirus.
