Voneus Adds Two Non-Executive Directors to its Board

Appointments central to rural broadband provider’s growth strategy

Voneus, the rural broadband specialist, today announced the appointment of two non-executive directors to its board. Joining the Voneus team are Adam Coxen and Philip Macridis who will both play strategic roles in scaling the company’s operations to deliver Superfast and ultrafast broadband to more of the UK’s disconnected communities.

Coxen has twenty years’ experience in board-level advisory roles in telecoms companies, including Waldon Telecom, telent Technology Services, PAN Telecom and Networks by Wireless. His strong track record in building fast growth businesses, together with his experience in telecoms infrastructure and, specifically, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) will make him a key advisor to Voneus as it continues with its strategy to grow both organically and via acquisition.

Macridis also joins with a wealth of experience, including in board positions at telecoms and technology businesses such as Virgin Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, and Tyntec, where he was instrumental in the company’s expansion to the US market and its acquisition strategy. His expertise in growth-focused technology businesses makes him the ideal fit as Voneus scales up its nationwide operations.

Both Coxen and Macridis will work closely with Steve Leighton, CEO, and Voneus’ main investor, Macquarie Capital.

“Voneus is a company with a very clear mission: to connect the disconnected. Our aim is to become the largest provider of broadband services to rural parts of the UK. This ambition requires scale, and to scale successfully requires the right expertise at board level. Adam and Philip bring this exact expertise,” said Leighton. “Both have grown businesses to be clear market leaders and their input into our growth strategy will prove invaluable. Alongside the recent senior management appointments that we’ve made, the recruitment of these two world-class non-executive directors sets us on a bold growth trajectory.”

“I am delighted to be joining the board at Voneus at such an exciting and important time for the business,” said Coxen. “Voneus aims to build the largest and best wireless and fibre rural broadband network in UK and with the support of a world leading infrastructure investor, Macquarie Capital, and an excellent team, I believe we can achieve great things in the coming years.”

“Voneus’s radically different business model – which puts subscribers, rather than infrastructure, at the heart of its operations – sets it apart from the rest of the UK telecoms market,” said Macridis. “I’m excited to be working alongside Steve and his highly-skilled team as it embarks on its next stage of growth.”
