North East engineering firm creates new jobs with office move and international expansion
A North East engineering services company has announced that it is creating new jobs with a new Texas office as well as a new head office.
NECIT, which is based in South Shields and provides inspection services for international engineering projects, has moved to the One Trinity Green business centre to accommodate its expanding workforce.
The company has also recently opened a new office in Houston, Texas.
The office move follows a record turnover of £1.67m in 2019 fuelled by new contract wins, with a forecasted £2.7m turnover in 2020.
The firm is currently recruiting seven new members of staff to expand its coordination and administration teams, taking its UK headcount up to sixteen, as well as building a team of five in Houston to support expansion into the US market.
Peter Lyons, founder and director of NECIT, commented: “In the beginning we were just a team of two managing our global network of specialist inspectors.
“Originally from Hebburn, I’m now proud to open NECIT’s headquarters in the heart of South Tyneside.
“Over recent years we have experienced rapid growth allowing us to take on new challenges and talent whilst expanding into the US market.
“The current COVID-19 situation is a challenge but we’re proud to continue providing the expert key workers that are required to keep our vital energy and engineering industries operational.
“We feel optimistic about the future and our fantastic team are on track for another record-breaking year.”
“We look forward to working with the borough’s cluster of offshore businesses at One Trinity Green.
“The North East boasts key niche engineering knowledge and skills and a well-established offshore supply chain.
“We are on the doorstep of the new Port of Tyne development and this is a great opportunity to showcase and utilise the local talent and resources we have that will help us to collectively grow together - not just as a borough, or a region but nationally.”
