Kent based business, Oscar Acoustics, doubles in size

Oscar Acoustics, the Kent-based architectural acoustic finishes provider, announces expansion plans in response to increased demand. The company has been busy installing and providing high-quality solutions for reverberation control in buildings. Having previously worked with prestigious clients such as Warner Bros. film studios and Harry Potter Studio Tour, Olympic Park, Jaguar Land Rover’s National Automotive Innovation Centre, Twickenham and Wembley Stadiums, the company is doubling its team to over 40 with a recruitment drive currently at 17 new employees and counting.

The new hires range from estimators to installation team leaders, working on diverse projects across Great Britain. The company provides architectural acoustic finishes for buildings across many different sectors and industries, advocating the health and wellbeing of all those who enter them. With their extensive range of recycled, seamless, acoustic, decorative finishes they enable designers to create beautiful, calm and inviting, modern spaces that sound as good as they look. Currently the team is working on projects in multiple sectors, from offices, education, warehousing through to manufacturing and housing.

Ben Hancock, Managing Director of Oscar Acoustics, comments, “With businesses slowly coming back to normal, we are seeing pent up demand unleashed. Contractors are keen to finish their jobs and business owners want their venues to be as attractive and inviting as possible when they open. While shutdown was difficult to navigate, our teams were back working safely as soon as possible. We run our business carefully, after four decades experience and thus we are able to endure the situation and respond to it better.”

“We’re based in Kent, a county that while it effectively serves as the gateway to the UK, it is crying out for skilled, secure employment. We’re glad that this new expansion will deliver jobs and skills for people after a period of upheaval.”

Scott Bull, who joined Oscar Acoustics as a trainee sprayer supervisor says, “In the current climate, people have to learn and develop new skills to stay in work. It can be hard to get your foot in the door, let alone into a sector where there’s the chance of progression, especially if you don’t want to be behind a desk. This job is the first step in an exciting career. “

The expansion represents the company’s focus and commitment to staff development. The equipment Oscar uses is specialised, so it’s unlikely that many new starters will have used it before. This is why Oscar invests time in training up staff from the beginning so that new joiners are qualified to work on the acoustic spray teams. Therefore the new expansion will not only provide jobs to people in the local area but will also allow them to develop new commercially viable skills.
