Pixel Kicks creates new site and manages cloud platform for KOMI group

Digital agency Pixel Kicks has created and launched a brand new website for social media marketing company KOMI group. The launch follows KOMI’S recent rebrand from It’s Gone Viral which also saw the company being restructured to become a two divisional agency business consisting of dedicated social media and marketing teams.

Under the KOMI group umbrella is: KOMI Media, which creates and builds bespoke social channels; and KOMI Social, which focusses on content production, content distribution and social media management for brands.

As well as the full website design and creation, Pixel Kicks is also managing a flexible and scalable cloud platform for the group. The hosting platform runs off AWS and consists of a load balancer with multiple virtual servers and separate S3 buckets.

The Pixel Kicks team has worked to ensure that each web server is highly-optimised for speed and security, with instant reporting of traffic spikes and bandwidth - all sitting behind a secure Cloudflare network. The server is able to handle traffic spikes of up to 15,000 concurrent visitors along with consistent website traffic of around 20 million visitors per month. Whilst the huge storage capacity is capable of streaming large video uploads.

Chris Buckley – MD of Pixel Kicks – said: “This was a real milestone project for us as KOMI group – previously It’s Gone Viral – is one of the most influential social media marketing companies in the world. The server setup was decided up after reviewing different solutions and we were able to draw on our extensive experience in the sector which dates back over a decade.

Chris added: Following the successful launch, our focus will now be maintaining the platform ongoing forward to make sure it can handle the predicted future traffic growth“

Andrew Trotman – director and founder of KOMI group – said: “Pixel Kicks has done a great job - both with the new site and our complex server requirements. Their expertise has set us up on a firm footing for the future.”

The decision to restructure and rebrand follows a lengthy strategic review process and aims to both simplify its offering in the minds of clients and to help grow its market share in each of its three core areas. The firm’s dedicated gaming and sports communities are also being expanded and branded KOMI Gaming and KOMI Sport respectively.

It’s Gone Viral, now the KOMI group, was founded in 2016 and is led by Andrew Trotman and Ryan Williams. Over the past four years, its team of content creators, analysts and video producers have made and then distributed video content and viral campaign adverts for international brands such as BBC Films, O2, Universal, Bud Light and Disney.

Content has been shared across its Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts including the main page, which is dedicated to relatable, informative and educational content; as well as Go Fetch, a platform for dog lovers to connect with one another; Happiest, which focusses on bringing the most entertaining and uplifting content and real life stories; and Ultimate DIY which is all about sharing fascinating and clever DIY, crafts and hacks followers can do at home.

The last six months has seen the company reach various milestones including delivering over six billion across its portfolio of pages, relocating its HQ to Beehive Mill in Ancoats, reporting its highest ever NewsWhip results, acquiring social media brand Happiest Media Ltd and appointing Urban Splash’s Sam Lenehan as its new non-exec director.
