Jobs saved as 125 year old golf club purchased for undisclosed sum

Ten jobs have been saved as a Leeds golf club has completed the sale of its business and assets to a competitor.

Leeds Golf Club has announced that Begbies Traynor professional services consultancy has aided in the sale of its business to Leeds Golf Club 1896 limited.

The sale has resulted in all ten jobs at the club being saved, and the club being able to remain open for its 400 members.

The company had been experiencing “a period of difficult trading” due to tough economic conditions, and is now owned and operated by Kirk Andrews.

Lee Lockwood, partner at Begbies Traynor Group, commented: “It’s great news for the staff and members that this historic club has been saved and is now in such experienced hands.

“Fortunately, we were able to find a buyer that intends to invest in the club, enabling golf to continue to be played here after almost 125 years. We wish it well for the future.”
