MAC Construction Consultants secures £30m of vital funding for education clients

Funding grants awarded for 45 projects at education academies across the UK

MAC Construction Consultant’s specialist education arm has successfully secured Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) for 45 projects nationally, totalling more than £30m for roofing, window, heating, block refurbishment and extension projects in a record-breaking year for the company.

Eleven of MAC’s client schools were awarded funding for two projects which is a huge achievement given the highly competitive nature of the CIF programme.

The funding is available to academies, sixth-form colleges and non-diocesan VA schools looking to improve the condition of their facilities by making sure their buildings are safe and in good working order, the CIF is made available from the Government on an annual basis.

The DfE received requests for more than £1.45 billion for over 4,350 projects in this round. Funding allocated totalled £434m for 1,476 projects at 1,243 academies, sixth-form colleges and non-diocesan voluntary aided schools has been provided.

Primarily used to address any compliance, or safety health and environment issues, the funds can also be utilised to support expansion projects at schools which are rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, and which can demonstrate need to accommodate more pupils.

MAC Construction Consultants are now working with clients to help them deliver these projects on time and on budget following the delays to this year’s funding announcement due to Coronavirus.

The firm have previously secured over £50m of capital funding for academies through this process. In addition to working to deliver these projects successfully, the team are also preparing to produce bid submissions for the next funding round which is anticipated in the Autumn and look forward to the wider announcements regarding additional capital funding for schools.

Jonathan Jones, Associate Director at MAC Construction Consultants commented: “Now more than ever, school facilities need to be able to offer an environment that is safe for children and it’s truly a fantastic achievement for us as a team so have once again such a high success rate.

“These coming months will be some of our busiest and we will be working harder than ever to make sure we can put together appropriate schedules to make sure schools can benefit as early as possible.”
