£2m refurbishment begins at landmark Birmingham office
Work has begun on a £2 million refurbishment of 54 Hagley Road, the landmark office building in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Five floors of the building, which comprises a 16-storey east wing and eight-floor west wing, are undergoing a comprehensive modernisation as part of a continued investment strategy by landlord Aberdeen Standard Investments.
Contractors Morgan Lovell have been appointed to deliver a full ground-floor refurbishment, with new reception, café, three meeting rooms, a conference facility that will double up as a fitness studio, locker and shower facilities and new bike stores.
A programme of office refurbishment is also underway, with refurbished suites for occupiers with between 20 and 200 staff that will be available over this summer.
Cameron Mackay, senior asset manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: “With these works we aim to provide companies with a great place to work. 54 Hagley Rd will provide cost-effective, great quality accommodation.
“With Edgbaston becoming ever more popular as a place to do business, socialise and live, the investment commitment to improving this premium office building will undoubtedly pay dividends. The works will also complete in advance of the new Metro works, which will provide a stop right outside the building, adding to its great connectivity.”
All work is expected to be completed by November.
