Barratt Homes marketing apprentice earns early promotion

A marketing apprentice with one of the region’s leading housebuilders has earned a promotion – just months after starting her new role.

Lydia Perrin, who was appointed as marketing apprentice for Barratt Developments in Southampton, has been promoted to apprentice marketing executive by the five star housebuilder.

Whilst studying for a Level 3 Digital Marketing qualification at Portsmouth City College, Lydia joined the Southampton-based team on 17th June 2019, looking after Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes developments across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Despite achieving her promotion just before lockdown, COVID-19 forced temporary shut downs across the entire housing industry. However, Lydia used her short furlough period to her advantage and completed her studies, enabling her to start afresh in her new role from Monday 8th June.

Lydia’s role will be varied and includes a wide range of marketing disciplines with a focus on digital activity for the housebuilder. She is now looking forward to being given even more responsibility in her role.

“I was so pleased to be able to secure a job within the construction industry” Lydia said. “It is a dynamic and exciting environment, and my promotion will enable me to develop my skills even further. I’m now looking forward to turning my hand to more experiences and putting some of my learned skills from college into action.”

Lydia will continue to spend four days a week with the business and a fifth studying at college. She is due to complete her course in December of this year.

Barratt Southampton’s marketing manager Daniel Bateman said: “It’s been lovely having Lydia as part of our team and I’m so happy we’ve been able to give her this promotion – she’s worked really hard for it.
