Altitude Gin Wins Silver IWSC Award

CHX Distillers Ltd is celebrating after winning a Silver award for their Altitude Alpine Dry Gin in the 2020 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for the second year running. Founded in 1969, the IWSC is considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world. Judging for the competition is unique in that it has two stages. First, the products are tasted blind by expert panels, selected from over 300 fully experienced and qualified industry judges. Products which receive the top medals are then subject to technical analysis before results are released; this crucial stage ensures winners receive complete validation. Altitude Gin outperformed hundreds of gin brands across the world scoring an impressive 93 points to clinch the coveted silver medal under the highly competitive London Dry Gin category. The judging panel remarked that Altitude Gin was “an aromatic equilibrium! Long, full and dry with classically elegant nuanced notes of lemon, juniper, and coriander together with a novel sweet touch and rounded mouthfeel”. Altitude Gin is blended with delicious mountain botanicals including elderflower, pine needles and European native myrtille berries. Born in Chamonix, Altitude Gin is inspired by the iconic peak of Mont Blanc and celebrates the alpine wonderland. Mont Blanc is the tallest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe, with a summit of 4,810 metres. It is the third most visited natural site in the world and has become a symbol of climate change as its glaciers continue to rapidly melt in response to the warming of the Earth. For every bottle of Altitude Gin sold, the business donates €1 to CREA Mont-Blanc, which helps to protect the surrounding territories of the French, Italian and Swiss slopes. Co-founder Kirstine Newton commented, “Winning this award not only helps to promote our products in both domestic and international markets, but also helps to raise awareness of the pressures of climate change that Mont Blanc faces. Our vision is to make a real and tangible impact on Mont Blanc conservation, whilst producing a world class gin” Having already been awarded a Gold medal in the 2020 Women’s Wine & Spirits Competition and featured as Craft Gin Club’s January ‘gin of the month’, Altitude Gin appears to be reaching extraordinary heights!
