Addmaster and MGR Foamtex boost air travel safety with landmark deal
Antimicrobial technology born in Staffordshire is set to make air travel safer after a new strategic agreement was signed with MGR Foamtex.
Addmaster, which has been in a series of discussions with the aviation sector, is working with the world leader in advanced passenger upholstery systems to protect its exciting new product range.
Developed specifically in response to the threat of Covid-19, MGRSafeWall™ will utilise the proven properties of Biomaster to provide long-term inherent protection against a wide range of viral and microbial threats* on soft furnishings available for new, upgrade and existing aircraft cabins.
Surfaces treated with this technology are proven to reduce the microbial load and the opportunities for cross contamination and provide an important second line of defence in addition to regular cleaning protocols.
The active antimicrobial agent from Addmaster is built into the product during the manufacturing process, so protection is effective 24/7 for the useful lifetime of the item.
“We are delighted to partner with MGR Foamtex on this new hygiene innovation for the airline industry. It’s so important that our everyday lives can return to the new normal as soon as possible and this collaboration is a significant and exciting step in that process,” explained Addmaster Founder and CEO Paul Morris.
“The strategic agreement is the first in what we hope to be many partnerships, with advanced trials currently taking place with a number of global organisations involved in transport.” He continued: “You don’t realise how many surfaces you touch when travelling through airports and on aircraft…luggage trolleys, security trays, numerous door handles, counters, seat tables and armrests. “Regular cleaning is vital, but Biomaster can be a very powerful ally in protecting passengers when in contact with surfaces.”
Les Simpson, MGR Foamtex CEO, commented on the landmark deal: “The whole team at MGR Foamtex is excited by this agreement and the opportunity to bring real value to the airline industry.
“Working with experts at Biomaster, we will use our aviation expertise to transfer technology and to bring a fantastic and well-established product into the sector. MGRSafeWall™ will allow our customers to address both the current threat of Coronavirus and deliver long-term value through permanently enhanced cabin hygiene.”
Addmaster, which recently won its third Queen’s Award in April, is ramping up activities to cope with the growth in demand, including increasing production and appointing additional sales resource to deal with enquiries.
The versatility of Biomaster is proving extremely popular as it can be built into the manufacturing process, applied to existing surfaces via air cured coating or can be sprayed onto textiles.
