Beverley restauranteurs reopen and set sights on expansion

A new restaurant forced to close immediately after launch due to the coronavirus, has reopened sporting a full refurbishment and COVID-secure measures.

Family-owned Pizza Baby, based at Flemingate in Beverley, has revised its table layout and added screens and booths to enable social distancing, as well as updating its outdoor patio area and adding a series of new interior design features.

Paris-trained hospitality professional Rich Scotney has joined the business as front-of-house manager from the Michelin starred Pipe & Glass in South Dalton, where he was patisserie chef.

Owners Louis Harrison and Jessica Dentner – who’ve both managed a series of business ventures including events management and seaside entertainment – are also set to open an additional eatery. Harrisons of Beverley, a New York-Italian cafe and sandwich deli, will open in coming months.

Harrison said: “We love to feed people, that’s what the culture of Pizza Baby is all about. But we also want our customers to be safe, secure, relaxed and at home. It’s all about inclusion here and everyone is welcome.

“We feel in a very privileged position, not only to be able to re-open with such fantastic, safe, high quality, family-friendly new features but just to be here at all, living our dream that has well and truly come to life.

“We opened Pizza Baby to offer the people of Beverley some outstanding family dining, somewhere with a bit of space for the kids and family to come along together to enjoy food, drink, good vibes and music.

“It’s not easy right now for anyone, but even the little bit we can each do to make our lives better and happier can go a long way.”
