Legal director joins Clarion’s private client team
Gareth Marland is the latest lawyer to join Clarion’s private client practice in Leeds as it continues to expand its team.
With experience of handling matters for wealthy individuals, including inheritance tax planning, trusts and wills, Gareth takes up the position of legal director with Clarion. He spent over 12 years in the private client team at a Harrogate law firm where he developed specialisms in advising farming clients and business owners.
Gareth is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly, Gareth’s experience includes advising on a wide range of matters such as making wills; inheritance tax; setting up trusts; probate; succession planning for business and farm owners; and powers of attorney. He has also been ranked as an ‘up and coming’ private wealth lawyer in the 2020 Chambers and Partners High Net Worth guide.
Viv Wild, partner and head of Clarion’s private client practice, commented: “With his strong track record of advising entrepreneurs, business owners, farming families and landowners, Gareth brings additional expertise, complementing the skills of our growing team.
“As well as building strong relationships with clients in complex and often sensitive situations, he also appreciates the value of working with other professional advisers and will work to strengthen our network of contacts among IFAs and accountants.”
Gareth adds: “As a lawyer who prides himself on providing advice to clients in a clear and compassionate manner, I felt that my approach perfectly chimed with Clarion’s. The firm has built a strong reputation as having one of the leading private client teams in the region, providing integrated services covering both business and personal wealth protection and estate planning. I am looking forward to adding my technical expertise and specialist knowledge in the agricultural sector, as the practice continues to expand.”
