Staff at Kinaxia Logistics complete virtual trek across Britain for Air Ambulances UK
Staff at Kinaxia Logistics completed a virtual trek across Britain and Ireland to raise hundreds of pounds for Air Ambulances UK, the company’s charity of the year for 2020.
More than 30 people from Kinaxia took part, chalking up 2,524 miles in a month by walking, cycling and running from home.
Their initial aim was to cover the equivalent distance of a round trip between Lands End and John O’Groats – a total of 1,748 miles – and the length of the whole of Ireland and then back again, which is a total of 604 miles.
They smashed their target with plenty to spare.
Their efforts raised £855 for Air Ambulances UK, which was voted by Kinaxia’s staff to be the group’s first ever charity of the year.
Among those taking part were Kinaxia founders Graham Norfolk and Peter Fields, chief executive Simon Hobbs, group directors Mark Stevenson and Vanessa Hope and Sue Pye, managing director of Kinaxia company Foulger Transport, which is based in Snetterton, Norfolk.
Kinaxia had planned to undertake the Yorkshire Three Peaks but, due to staff working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, opted for a collective challenge that could be completed from home.
Simon said: “We are thrilled to have Air Ambulances UK as our first charity of the year and are excited to see the partnership grow during 2020.
“The amazing work carried out by air ambulance teams across the UK reflects and solidifies our brand values for our employees and customers.”
Air Ambulances UK is the national charity supporting the work of the nation’s 21 air ambulance charities. They receive no day-to-day government or National Lottery funding and are completely reliant on the communities they serve.
Each day, around 70 life-saving missions take place across the UK – the equivalent of 25,000 a year – and there are on average two air ambulances in the air at any one time.
Emma Carter, fundraising and communications manager at Air Ambulances UK, said: “We are hugely grateful for Kinaxia’s support.
“Air ambulances have played a vital role in the frontline response against Covid-19 while still continuing with their daily lifesaving missions and facing a decline in donations. Support from organisations such as Kinaxia is more important than ever.”
Kinaxia is a top 15 logistics group in the transport and warehouse sector, comprising 13 businesses with 1700 staff and more than 700 vehicles.
The group, which has its headquarters in Macclesfield, Cheshire, has two million sq ft of warehouse facilities nationwide, offering contract packing, e-fulfilment, returns management and storage services.
