International vegetable farming firm invests £3m in growing Yorkshire base

An international vegetable machinery firm has announced that it is investing £3m into a Yorkshire base following the purchase of a new site.

Grimme UK, which currently has a site in Dunnington, will relocate to a new headquarters being built in Market Weighton.

Work building the new 15,000 sq ft steel framed building is now underway and is due to complete in April 2021.

Leeds property consultancy, Gent Visick, marketed the site on behalf of the seller, Britcom, and Procters Property Ltd advised GRIMME UK.

Joint managing director at Britcom, Chris Urwin, commented: “The sale has assisted us to expand our successful chassis engineering and bodybuilding department, where we are investing more than £1m in the construction of a new six bay workshop on our existing 14 acre Market Weighton HQ site.

“This investment will take our capacity up to 20 workshop bays and will incorporate a 10-tonne overhead crane enabling us to serve more customers in an even quicker time-frame.”

Paul Mack, director at Gent Visick, said: “Over the past seven years we have seen demand for industrial land on a freehold basis reach unprecedented levels across the Yorkshire region.

“We are delighted to have concluded this transaction on behalf of our client and deliver a fantastic result.”
